Tenute San Sisto

Via San Sisto
Maiolati Spontini (Ancona) – Italy

Fide et amor. The features of a small estate, with farm buildings at the centre of the property and vine rows all around. A church at the centre of the San Sisto countryside, the oldest estate, dating from 1199 and since restored, bears witness to the love for the beauty and value of this place, as reported on a marble inscription inside the church: Fide et amor restauravit.

Terroir

This unique place is perfect for growing Verdicchio, mainly thanks to the exposure that guarantees a decidedly cool climate and the limestone-alkaline soils with a clay component, characteristics that add mineral structure, marked acidity and aromatic freshness, making Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Classico Riserva San Sisto very suitable for long ageing. The medium-textured soils are slightly alkaline and calcareous, an ideal composition for obtaining elegant wines rich in body, extract and aroma. The elevation favours a good day-night temperature range, especially in the final stages of ripening, and enhances most of these characteristics.
